The agreement between us.

You must be 18 or older and living in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area. You must give us your real name and accurate details. Registering with false information, or on behalf of someone else, ends your membership.

One membership per person.

A free service that introduces two adults for one private, one-hour video conversation, at most once a week. Before the call, each of you knows only the other's first name.

We match people and provide the room. We do not participate in, monitor, record or moderate what is said during a conversation.

It is also not a dating service, not a networking platform, and not a place to sell anything.

• Follow the community guidelines. They are part of these terms.
• No romantic or sexual conduct of any kind, including flirting or persistent personal interest after it is unwelcome.
• No recording, screenshotting or sharing a conversation, in whole or in part, without the other person clearly agreeing.
• No harassment, slurs, threats or intimidation.
• Nothing being sold — no pitches, recruitment, promotion or fundraising.
• No attempt to identify, locate or contact someone who has not chosen to share their details.
• Show up, or cancel by Saturday noon, so nobody sits waiting alone.

After each conversation you rate it privately. Ratings are never shown to members — not to the person rated, and not to you. They exist so we can identify people who make this unsafe.

Rate honestly. Deliberately false ratings, used to harm someone, end your membership.

We may suspend or remove anyone, at our discretion, where we believe these terms or the guidelines have been broken. Sexual conduct, harassment, recording without agreement, sales pitches and lying about your identity result in permanent removal.

Decisions are made by a person, normally within 72 hours, and told to you by email. You may respond once. We never reveal who reported someone.

You can leave at any time by emailing us. You do not need to give a reason.

OneHourOne is a free pilot, run by hand, and provided as is. We do not promise that the service will be available, that a match will be found in any given week, that a conversation will be enjoyable, or that the technology will work without fault.

We verify that members are real adults, but we cannot guarantee anyone's behaviour. You are meeting a stranger. Use the same judgement you would anywhere else: share what you choose to share, leave whenever you want, and report anything that felt wrong.

To the fullest extent Ontario law allows, we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of the service or from anything another member says or does. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Anything you say in a conversation is yours. We claim no rights over it, hold no copy of it, and will never use it for anything.

How we handle your information is set out in the privacy notice, which forms part of these terms. In short: your match sees your first name and nothing else, and you can have everything deleted by asking.

If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the change.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
